Getting to know our apple varieties

The Haralson

Medium in size and red with russeting, the Haralson has a distinctive tart flavor.  Always crisp and juicy, it is a good eating apple for those who enjoy a tart and tangy apple.  Often this apple is used in baking and is widely recognized as the best pie-making apple variety grown in Minnesota.

The Honeygold
The Honeygold is yellow in color with a slight pink blush.  This sweet apple combines the texture of a Golden Delicious and the juicy crispness of the Haralson.  This delicate apple is a first class eating apple but also has enough structure to allow for baking apple delights of a sweeter variety.

The Honeycrisp

The Honeycrisp is a red apple created by the University of Minnesota by crossing a Honeygold with a Mactoun (a sport of the MacIntosh).  Already one of the most popular eating apples, the juicy Honeycrisp packs an explosive crispy crunch that strikes a perfect balance between sweet and tart.

The Regent
This ruby red apple is mild in flavor and firm in texture.  Considered one of the best baked apples, the Regent is also good for just eating given its versatile texture with good snap and body as well as a sweet, soft flavor.
